Software Developer Worker 4.0

You develop and validate interactive solutions for production environments. You figure out new ways to enhance the operator’s work & wellbeing in the Factory of the Future.

An operator’s job has become more and more demanding. Manufacturing companies are looking for new ways to support their operators, both on a cognitive and on an ergonomic level. Flanders Make researches and introduces upcoming technologies and tools like tablets, wearables, interactive vision systems, cobots, etc. in a production environment. We take away any remaining fear of technology and support companies in their next steps towards ‘the factory of the future’.

Develop interactive solutions for Worker 4.0

As an expert or potential in software development, you will:

  • Work together in a research team that combines expertise in software development, human-centric solutions, model-based design, AI & data analytics, computer vision, IoT, robotics & AR/VR/XR applications with a good understanding of industrial practices;
  • Perform research projects to support production employees, both on a cognitive and on an ergonomic level, and;
  • Develop innovative software solutions for Worker 4.0. You will demonstrate these solutions to industrial stakeholders.

Together with the team, you will tackle various real-life industrial challenges, and in doing so:

  • Explore new ways to support operators cognitively, ranging from digital work instructions, smart HMI & AI supported solutions (chatbots, digital assistants and/or speech assistants) to Augmented Reality (AR/VR/XR) based modules;
  • Promote new technologies, summarise the limits of current solutions on the market and provide a set of options worth exploring;
  • Build and maintain an open relationship with the industrial partners and with their production employees, thus making sure you really understand the industrial situation;
  • Analyse the requirements and integrate the selected technology in the software;
  • Program the interface (Python, C++) and/or develop your solution, e.g., for interactive work instructions. You ensure the integration of intelligent AI-components in existing frameworks of Production Employee Information Systems;
  • Validate your solution on a robust demonstrator, in-house or at the partner company, to promote the possibilities of your demonstrated technology to the industry;
  • Actively monitor useful software development practices;
  • Trace and present industrial challenges and new research opportunities.
