Design & Test Engineer for Joining & Materials Lab

In the Joining & Materials Lab, we duplicate the entire joining process in industry-relevant conditions. We map the right process parameters and optimise them. This results in a more stable and robust production process, wherever in the world it will be applied.

Validate new joining solutions with robotic tools

With your background in instrumentation, testing and simulation, you will:

  • Work closely together in a team of 3 - 4 people, that combines expertise in adhesive bonding, material science, automation & robotics;
  • Improve the production process of manufacturing companies, focusing on adhesive joints.
  • Create and adapt virtual models before experimental tests;
  • Instrument the hardware for experimental tests;
  • Technically coordinate the high-tech infrastructure. Adjust for new research needs & scope what we can do for companies.
  • Formulate the requirements for new equipment or software needed.

Hands-on Technical Researcher

You have :

  • A master's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Material Science ,…;
  • A strong interest in structural joining;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in an academic or industrial environment, preferably in mechatronic or mechanical machine design or in production process design, in instrumentation and testing, sensors (vision systems, temperature sensors,..) and actuators;
  • Experience in a safety critical test environment is a plus;
  • Ability to get acquainted easily with different software packages.
