Research Engineer Knowledge Graphs

FUNCTION

As a Research Engineer Knowledge Graphs, you will contribute to groundbreaking research into the development of flexible data retrieval in the manufacturing industry, supported by modern chatbots.

At Flanders Make, we conduct research aimed at innovation in the (manufacturing) industry of the future. In the upcoming projects, we want to develop prototype software tools that use advanced knowledge graphs. You will investigate how context in the manufacturing industry can be explicitly modelled using these knowledge graphs.

Development and Implementation of AI Solutions for the Manufacturing Industry

You will be working in an agile environment in which you will work together with experts from a software, mechanical or mathematical engineering background and with expertise in model-driven engineering, computational design synthesis, optimization techniques and mechatronic design.

Together, you will set up software developments that, among other things, will radically speed up searches by data engineers and data scientists in manufacturing companies and arrive at proof-of-concepts.

Specifically, you will:

  • Developing complex ontologies, using modern modelling techniques to effectively capture the knowledge of manufacturing companies;

  • Develop Python tools to effectively use these ontologies in applications (such as root-cause analysis) and combine them with other technologies such as LLMs;

  • Setting up graph databases to connect the ontologies with data in a knowledge graph;

  • Regularly presenting the progress of your technical concepts and findings to various stakeholders at colleagues and partners;

  • Actively expand your expertise in your field but also in related topics.
